Bodywork Dent Repair

Bodywork Dent Repair

One evening I realised I had a very noticeable dent to the rear wheel arch area of my car – still to this day I am unsure of what caused it. My father-in-law helped me to repair the damage and taught me a lot throughout the process!

I had originally planned to go in from the boot and push the dent out, however due to the location of the dent itself it meant there wasn’t enough space to get anything behind the dent to push it out. What we decided on instead was to drill a screw into the center of the dent and use a tortion bar to pull the dent out this way.

After 2-3 more screws being drilled, the dent was mostly removed. Next was using filler to repair the holes now in my bodywork and then through a process of sanding and shaping the filler due to the contour of the bodywork, topping up any places that required it and then prepping the panel to paint.

Thankfull y the painting, laquer and polishing was quite a quick process with majority of time being spent waiting for the paint to dry. It turned out much better than what I had expected – I also learnt so much along the way too. (Frustratingly I only have this photo)
